9 PM CDT – Neptune is at west quadrature, the Earth-Sun-Neptune line makes a 90o angle where Neptune is visible in the evening sky.

3:48 AM CDT – New Moon, the beginning of lunation cycle 1019

11 AM CDT – The asteroid Ceres is at opposition, the asteroid is visible all night since it rises at sunset and sets at sunrise.

Friday, May 13, 2005:

6 PM CDT – The Sun is leaving the astronomical constellation of Aries the Ram and is entering the astronomical constellation of Taurus the bull.

9 AM CDT – The Moon is at apogee, the point in its orbit where it is furthest from the Earth ~ 254,000 miles.

Mars is 1.1o south southeast of Uranus.

Wednesday, May 18, 2005:

5 AM CDT – Mars and Saturn are at heliocentric opposition, they are on opposite sides of the Sun.

Thursday, May 19, 2005:

Sagittarid meteor shower, ZHR = 5 meteors/hour

7 PM CDT – Neptune is stationary in right ascension (relative to the stars). Neptune ceases its normal eastward motion through the stars and begins retrograde westward motion.

Friday, May 20, 2005:

Omicron Cetid radio meteor shower

5 PM CDT – The Moon is at its descending node, it is crossing the plane of the Earth’s orbit and heading south.

6 PM CDT – The Sun is leaving the astrological sign of Taurus the Bull and entering the astrological sign of the Gemini Twins.

In evenings in May the Milky Way lies flat around the horizon demonstrating that it is a big circle in the sky.
