April Piscid “radio” meteor shower – active April 8 – 29, low rate

6:43 AM CDT – The Moon is t its ascending node, that is, it is crossing the plane of the Earth’s orbit and heading northeast

Thursday, April 22, 2004:

Lyrid meteor shower – the closeness to the new moon makes this a good year to observe this shower, active April 16 – 29, ZHR < 90 meteors/hour

Friday, April 23, 2004:

Pi Puppid meteor shower – active April 15 – 28, ZHR < 40 meteors/hour

4 PM CDT – Mercury is at its descending node, it is crossing the plane of the Earth’s orbit and heading southeast
