Jeff Schilling Bio

Jeff Schilling is an accomplished amateur astronomer and astrophotographer based in Kingwood, Texas. Jeff has been a member of the North Houston Astronomy Club (NHAC) since 2017.

From his backyard and the club’s dark site, he enjoys visual astronomy with his 20″ F5 Dobsonian telescope that he recently designed and constructed himself.

Jeff’s astrophotography has earned significant recognition, including the prestigious NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) and AstroBin Image of the Day—honors that underscore the quality and artistry of his astronomical imaging.  Jeff has a remote imaging system at StarFront Observatory in Rockwood, TX where he has a Takahashi TOA 130 installed.  From his backyard he is currently setting up a Celestron C11 EDGE HD with plans for planetary nebula hunting using narrow band filters. When he’s not under the stars, Jeff enjoys soccer, kitesurfing, and watching movies with his family.
